There is a bug in the Mac OS X version of Marble Blast that will not allow you to select it as an allowed application for a Limited User Account.

This is a known issue which we've just submitted a fix for. You can follow the steps below to fix the problem on your machine. Thanks for playing Marble Blast and please let us know if you encounter any difficulties with this fix!

To fix the user security launch bug for limited accounts on OS X, please follow these instructions.

1) Find your Marble Blast Gold application in the Finder. By default, Marble Blast is found in the Applications folder.

2) Right-click on Marble Blast Gold, and select the "Show Package Contents" option from the context-sensitivie menu.

3) A new folder will open. Double-click and enter the "Contents" folder.

4) Download the file "Info.plist.zip" which is attached to this article, double click it to decompress the "info.plist" file.

5) Place "info.plist" into the Contents folder.

6) You will be prompted, asking if you'd like to replace the existing copy of "Info.plist". Choose to replace the existing file.

7) Close the folder. Depending on your specific machine settings, you may need to restart your computer.

All done! Your copy of Marble Blast Gold should now work properly with Limited User accounts.

I right-clicked on the resource link at the top of this page, and asked Safari 2 to download to the Desktop. The file that I received had the filename 8052.info.plist.xml, so I had to rename it to Info.plist -- at least, I assume I had to rename it.

I replaced the current Info.plist file with the one I just renamed.

Now, the parental controls seem to work.... In 10.4.2, I can see MarbleBlast Gold appear in the list of selectable apps for a limited user. I click on the checkbox to add this app to the list of selected apps for the limited user. All seems well.

Unfortunately, the limited user is still unable to open the app...
You do not have permission to open the application "MarbleBlast Gold".

Is this fix specifically for Panther, or should it also work for Tiger?

Similar to Mark Abajian's report, I have followed all of the above instructions carefully -- including the reboot -- but Simple Finder still won't display Marble Blast Gold. (We're currently running 10.3.8)

That stated, I have noticed one small improvement that makes me think we're close to a solution. MB's "check mark" in the app-selection-pane of my admin account's System Preferences module used to disappear when that window was closed. No longer: it remains. Yet, Simple Finder still won't run the game!

Hoping for some resolution to this problem!

I followed the directions, including a reboot. Now all accounts (including admin) are getting the following error:
"Cannot open application MarbleBlaster Gold OSX Demo because it is either damaged or incomplete."

Bummer.
