UI Creation Style Guide

Is there a best practices or Style Guide for UI Creation with the UI Editor? I am trying the figure out the best way to make my UI. I have taken a look at one of the samples that comes with the engine but it feels like there's a lot of seemingly superfluous controls behind the actual buttons and editboxes.
Either that or I am not entirely sure what they are there for.
Thanks

Sir Novack, am I to assume that the resources for learning the TGB GUI editor provide information that carries over to the TGEA engine? I have yet to find a comprehensive document on building UI's with the GUI editor in TGEA. I am totally new to Torque.

Owen yes I believe that is correct. It is all the same. The paths to resources are different though.
