Torque 3D compatible with these old Matrox cards? Any ideas?

Hey guys.

Topic says it all really - does anyone know if Torque3D will run on:

G200

and

G450

Cheers,

Hi Ian - I can't give you an official answer, of course. But those cards are very, very old, and very very slow, and I assume that nothing modern wold work on them, as there are no current drivers. But you have my curiosity piqued as to where an 11 year old graphics card would actually be running. I'm assuming it's something embedded?

I believe it will not run, because T3D can not run on DX8 cards.
What so say for DX6 with backwards compatibility...

I think the official T3D support is limited to SM2.0 and higher if I'm not mistaken.

G450 is 10 years old and the G200 is 11.

I don't think that it is reasonable to expect support for hardware that old.

As a matter of fact I think that DX9 support is the minimum as of Beta 4. I think that the DirectX 8 renderer was totally removed.

Not to mention even with those cards were new they were not considered very highly for games even then.

Thanks guys. I hadn't actually taken in just how old these chipsets were... yeah I don't expect even Torque 1 to run on them O_o

I think torque runs best on cards with shader 2.0. I'm not sure though.

T3D runs only in basic lightning with SM2.

We have discussed getting fixed function working again for really old cards like this, but as would expect the quality will be low.
