Somethings Fishy... Free Stuff??
by User · in Torque 3D Professional · 07/03/2009 (11:13 am) · 12 replies
Ok, so now you all know i have Torque3D... But now whenever i go to like say, the TGEA page, instead of a buy now button there a button that says:
UPGRADE $0.00. I click on it and next thing you know i both got tge and tgea for free.
WHAT?????
Is this a bug, or a special purpose? What going on?

TGE price goes to the cost of TGEA, TGEA price goes to the cost of T3D. It encourages people to upgrade as engines develop.
It's reverse engineered in your case, as you got T3D first, and are thus bequeathed the other, older engines.

I think the idea is that "back in the day", you start with TGE, you upgrade to TGEA costing minus TGE price. You then upgrade to T3D minus the TGEA price.TGE price goes to the cost of TGEA, TGEA price goes to the cost of T3D. It encourages people to upgrade as engines develop.

Well, up until they unlocked access to the TGE and TGEA forums, owning those engines was important. But now, yes, theres not much use.

@Matt: We get a lot of requests for people to grab the older versions, so we thought we'd just include them in the purchases of Torque 3D. Save us the trouble of processing requests later. :) Some people care, some don't; it's really up to the developer.

Thanks! After seeing this post, I added access as well. Is there a way to make adding to the TGEA automatic? It's really nice being able to search those forums, too. Lots of good stuff there.
