gDEBugger for iPhone

Last week Matt Fairfax informed me that graphicRemedy is providing a beta for gDEBugger on the iPhone. You can read the announcement here: gDEBugger iPhone.

The beta will end in July, so now is a good time to give it a try. We will be using this to isolate and fix OpenGL ES bug, bottlenecks, and general graphic deficiencies in iTGB. This will not be a quick process, so I'm letting you all know in case you want to do your own testing. The fixes we come up with will probably not make it as a 1.2.x hotfix, but will be fully utilized in v1.3.

If you make any discoveries that might help improve the engine, please post them so we can integrate this into iTGB.

Sweet :)

Its a shame that OpenGL still is on the "noob" level development wise and does not have an acceptable dev suite as DX has it and that although various companies are deciding about its future.

$750++ for something thats free on DX just will ensure that OpenGL will never ever stand a chance to be the "more likely" API again.

DX definitely has some amazing debug tools. Considering the iPhone uses OpenGL ES it really does not matter in this situation. I spent a few hours yesterday working with the tool and found out some interesting details.

I'll continue using the Beta and will most likely request a purchase for it since it is the only decent OpenGL ES debugger tool available.
