by Tom Spilman · in Torque 3D Beginner · 05/30/2009 (1:20 am) · 823 replies

I think it's about time we started a show off thread for cool Torque 3D stuff.

Screenshots are great... but a YouTube HD video gives you massive bonus points. :)

Ready... Set.... GO!

If we're gonna start complaining about the prototype mesh road system can I whine on about having a typeable datafield for width? It'd make it easier for doubling it up as wall.

Did you see the fur rendering on that cat? I didn't know Torque 3D could do that!

:D

Never noticed the fur ... I was too in awe of the normals on the garland.

Hey, good idea! And while we're complaining about system improvements in general, I might as well mention a voxel editor and automatic scaling UVs (i.e. no texture stretching on hills/cliffs) for the terrain system, an in-game building editor, an in-game tree/foliage/vine editor, asset paintbrushes (i.e. adjust brush shape/density and min/max terrain angle, and start painting assets), water caustics and god-rays...oh wait...how about a game creation wizard? Just select game type, art style, color scheme, historical time frame, and number of levels, then hit the "GO!!" button and viola!! =D

I hope all of you who post in the show-off thread know, that it is very inspiring to those of us in the Garage to see your talents at work with our product.

Even at this beta stage, you continue to blow us away and cause us to stop and talk about what you've created.

Thank you!!

@Song Yongjin - I'll see what I can do about hooking you up with some free file space on one of my file servers in my server rack.

Email me if you're interested:

Deborah/Brett - either one of you mind sending me an email as well? Got a few ideas for this.

Yes, the quality is awesome, but what I find more amazing and inspiring is the diversity of what we are seeing here. All sorts of genres are covered, RPG's, FPS's , sci fi themes, and they *all* look equally great. When are we gonna start the betting pool on whose game will be the first blockbuster seller?

@Steve: I'll put my money on Deborah's project (see previous page). Not only is that the most realistic cat I've ever seen, but it has great personality (looks like a deadly secret agent (the glasses) disuised as a harmless feline (the garland)--James Bond's pet maybe?).

Great character design +
inspiring character background/story
==
next blockbuster title. =D

Thanks, Daniel. I worked whole minutes googling...er, I mean "modeling" that cat. Mr. Pickle's Hawaiian Spy Adventures is coming to a Wii near you!
