TGB tutorial – Stacker Clone - Now on TDN
by RollerJesus · in Torque Game Builder · 05/27/2009 (6:40 am) · 8 replies
Hey all,
I posted a beginners tutorial on TDN here.
"It's a simple tutorial for TGB that aims to take someone from zero knowledge of TGB to a working game that is a simplified clone of the arcade hit “Stacker”. A little programming knowledge would be helpful but not necessary as I walk through every step of the process with code examples and screen shots."
Please let me know what you think!

I've considered porting it to iTGB along with my Simon clone and releasing something for the iPhone but don't want to spend the money for a license at the moment - I would have to upgrade to TGB Pro first too...
Please let me know if you have any code corrections/improvements if you get a chance to look through it.

Very good tutorial. but sometimes it stacks incorrectly and can even finish incorectly i was wondering if it is a timer issue or a tgb itself issue. I think you did an excellent job i hope you post more demo's thanks

@General: Does it only stack incorrectly after you make it from the tutorial or does that happen with the example as well? What OS are you using? What version of TGB? I haven't seen that happen.. :) Thanks for checking it out!

I think I have the same problem as General...after i finish the tutorial and run it ...i hit the space bar and the light starts moving across the bottom row (like in the example)...but then when i hit the space bar to stop the light in place ...it(light)disappears. your clone works fine by the way...i have vista, and I'm using TGB pro 1.7.4

Alright, sounds like there was a typo in the tutorial somewhere. I'll look into it, if you can, please email me a copy of your tgb project and I'll get it corrected. Thanks all, sorry about the mistake.

I know this topic was started a long time ago, but, who knows.
I'm learning how to develop using TGB and your tutorial is great! What should I do to expand to two more blocks, side-by-side, like on real arcade machine? Could you give me some direction? I'm not asking for a solution, just a starting point.
Thansk in advance.
