Is anyone in the Grage Games community going to E3? If so I hope I see you there!

I doubt that anyone would because of the expense. I'm not sure but I believe a booth or any kind of space is very expensive.

for UKers if you've registered your company, the DTi are running a pavilion beside Sega and they're offering cheapo exhibition costs for 60 teams. I'm not sure how discounted because I'm not sure of the price before but check it out at www.creativeexport.co.uk

I went in 2001 and 2002. I can't go this summer cuz I gotta go to Mississippi for training during that time. )C: I liked it though. Booth Babes, swag, and lots and lots of video games that you wont see for 3-6 months. Good times! And both years I was on Japanese TV being interviewed by a hot chic, and sounding like a complete and utter dumb ass.

That UK plan looks as half baked as the rest of the DTI's ideas :( Shame... as it's a good idea in principle.

I think 2000 was the last time I went to E3 and it was an excellent event. Not much real meat, but plenty of interesting 'stuff' to see. Of course it was only my second time in LA in like 10 years, so that was 'interesting' too. :)That UK plan looks as half baked as the rest of the DTI's ideas :( Shame... as it's a good idea in principle.

I'll probably be at E3 but no specific plans right now.

Telefilm Canada also does a similar deal, as do various other national (have seen Scottish, Korean etc. pavillions in the past).I'll probably be at E3 but no specific plans right now.

This time, we should actually find a place to actually meet, instead of randomly showing up at a booth where someone might be working ;)
It will be easier to tag people if we have pictures :) Maybe we can all wear GG tshirts :)

The last time I went was 2000 and was pretty disappointed, other than the Playstation 2 launch in the US it was pretty tame compared to when they held it in Atlanta. It seems it is much more expensive for smaller companies to have a booth out in LA even considering the cost of shipping, the unions and other bs really rack up the dollars.
That combined with the Columbine incident had most of the games that would have been interesting pulled back for private viewing so the media could not use them as new fodder.
There were very few actual developers to talk with, mostly marketing weasles that did not know anything but what was on the brochures. I did have fun playing the Jungle Book dancing game ( like DDR but with Jungle Book songs ) with the scantly clad females that were "demoing" it.
The other highlight was the Planet of the Apes actors that were in character the entire time, they were awesome as were the "slave" girls, they had the hottest "booth babes" of the entire show! I will see if I can find the pictures, I have a great picture of me being "captured" by a bunch of gorillas and having a philosphical chat with Dr. Zaius!
