Terrain textures not joinning together properly UPDATE

by Luis Rodrigues · in Torque 3D Professional · 05/05/2009 (2:53 am) · 32 replies

EDIT: Still present in Beta 5

EDIT: Still present in Beta 4

UPDATE: if i remove the detail maps from the terrain this doesn't show up anymore. Looks like crap but there are no issues like one on image.

Maybe when mixing the detail something isn't right?

Sounds like a driver or driver setting issue.
Potentially texture clamp setting

Not repeatable here on my GTX280

Yea... its really starting to sound like a driver setting to me.

Still i'll have to get ahold of one of these specific cards to test it.

Well, it's sounding like an ATI only bug. The few people I know with nvidia rigs don't get the issue either. I played with all my settings for my video card. Set everything I can do application preference and then went one by one turning on/off. I managed to get zero progress hehe, same issue no matter what settings i messed with.

Been searching online and there is no update on my card's driver anywhere (dated march 2008)

However i did find a Mod tool that allows me to install the driver for th 3450 (from what i know ATI has one single driver for all their cards and that one is still from the 3400 series anyway)

So i tried that - installed the march 2009 driver - the problem is still present.

Forgot to mention i haven't tweeked any setting on Catalyst - it's set as from factory

Thanks Luis. That does help pinpoint the issue to certain ATI cards.

Can't reproduce this on an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS. I will try 2 ATI cards tomorrow.

No issues on the nvidia cards i had available. Looks like just an ATI thing.

Could this be a outdated driver issue? I haven't had this problem with any version of T3D on my ATI Radeon HD 4800 (Though before updating my driver from the version that came with the card I had all kinds of graphical errors similar to yours). It could also be a missing extension on older Radeon cards since ATI were never very good implementing hardware extensions when they were supposed to.

Is this still a bug for anyone in 1.0.1?
