Torque - good enough in 2004+?

I just want to know, if Torque engine will be comparable to other ones in future.
I will have to go to the army :/// and so I have to freeze my project for about A YEAR (!). When I'll get out, will be engine which was bought year ago still usable? I mean, will be game created with Torque looking good amongst other games?
Thanks for answer,
George Kafka

Sure, using a newer engine with a stable base can definitely take some of the work out of it, but you'll still have to tailor the engine to suit your game's needs (unless you're simply making a total conversion and calling it your game). Using an engine like Torque with its community is also extremely beneficial.
I guess the whole answer to this question is: it depends on your resources and your game design.

There's a lot of stuff that the Unreal Engine can't do out of the box as well. That's why teams have programmers.Sure, using a newer engine with a stable base can definitely take some of the work out of it, but you'll still have to tailor the engine to suit your game's needs (unless you're simply making a total conversion and calling it your game). I am working on addressing lots of what I consider "issues" for my game.
Like I said, if someone does not need modern interiors, voice over ip, or any of the other "missing" features then, it is not an issue. But for people looking to get into Torque they should know what they are NOT getting just as well as what they ARE getting.
All that said, Torque is the BEST value for the money on the market.
I think since I have the source I can make it work for me for a long time to come.

Half-Lifes player to player voice over IP has been very robust and stable in my expeirence. Operation Flashpoints voice comm is very useable, that is if you can actually connect to the game to begin with :(I am working on addressing lots of what I consider "issues" for my game.

Meh, software changes as time goes on. Every now and then a new Windows is released and everyone flocks to it like zombies to a live person.

Torque is like a box of chocolates... You never know what you're going to get ;)

I know we've discussed texture lighting, too--it would be handy, though I wonder what it would take to get that in there?
