I have to say that I appreciate the progress on the site. Good work.
However, there is one thing that is just as annoying as that banner that was removed ....and it is the inclusion of "About the Author" subtext in the forum postings.
Look at this post: CLICK HERE
now, If I really wanted to read this, I would have clicked on their profile, right ?
ugh...sorry but that was a poor choice...
!!!!Why not just hyperlink the words "About the author" back to the author's profile ?
thx

Holy effin' crap, that "About" takes up a lot of vertical space. I have 800 pixels in the vertical when surfing on my laptop!GG are thinking tall, not wide.

+1. Quoting myself in the Jacob's blog:Quote:Wonderful addition. A little too big for my taste, but cool anyway, and I know for the long battle against the banner that you Jacob like big ;P
The About the Author section though, some times goes out of control; check out the Drew Sikora's blogs for an example.
A personal comment on that:
We have already too much member information condensed on the first post, that in the end, is just one or two clicks away, in the profile.
The mini-profile tooltip is very good, and we have the avatar, the icon indicating member or employee, and of course the name.
But now there is ALSO a recent activity list at the bottom of the first post, the "About the author", all into another BIG rectangle that for the most part will be ignored, and in case of need, is info one click away.
Proposition: first post with only avatar (with mini-profile) at the top-right.

Nah, leave it as is, but limit how much is displayed -- maybe a "Summary" instead of "Details".

I wasn't even going to read this thread, but I saw it was started by eb, who usually makes a good post :) I'm glad I checked it out, because eb is right! The "details" part of the profile is WAY too long for some of us. I usually use my cellphone to check the forums, and long detailed profiles are just overwhelming.
I'd like to add the disclaimer that I wrote that profile about four years ago, and I had completely forgotten about it. I also had no idea my entire profile would be included with EVERY thread I started, so, following your lead, I've removed my lengthy details and will add a link to a .blog with the information instead.
Thanks!
Tony

That was nice of you Infinitum3D, but I think what is being shot at here is a correction by the GG web people to only show part of them.. maybe only so many characters.

@Andrew - I understand, and I hope GG does make the change, but if not, I guess we members can fix things ourselves if we have to.
