This was the official feedback thread for the Torque 3D beta.

It is now locked.

Please make post any new documentation feedback in the official thread:

Official Torque 3D Documentation Feedback
=========================================================================

6/16/09 Update Changed title of thread to Torque 3D Beta, instead of Official Torque 3D. When the final release ships, I want to have a clean thread for new users to be able to search through and post in. This thread will be archived.

7/17/09 Update: Tooltips work. Component Tutorials work in certain browsers. CLICK HERE for SVN Change Log.

9/31/09 Update: Posted full TOC for docs, using WIP template to hold spot for final docs to be written. CLICK HERE for SVN Change Log.

So... what's up?

@Novack - Thanks for that. It will go well with the other SFX docs coming in to me this week. Good suggestions about requirements too.

I do not have ETAs, nor will I be able to give any out anymore. Things are just too hectic for me to stay on one specific section or task.

@Jason - Not really. The work flow has changed too much.

@Black Tengu - What Steve said.

Update:

The TorqueScript documentation is the next section to go up. I am then moving on to the Artist Section, then Engine, then going back to the Beginner Guide to update those docs to use the latest changes/screenshots.

The RTS/Hack & Slash prototype tutorial ended up being about 25 printed pages.

After 1.0, I will most likely lock this thread and start generating more content based on the feedback provided so far. Additionally, after 1.0 I will be working on Torque 2D documentation concurrently. Among other reasons, my involvement in the community and forums will be reduced to the two threads discussing documentation for both engines.

Is there a reason why this only says "full"? The documentation says that there should be a "blank" selection as well.

Just wondering....

Michael, thanks for the update. Any chances of getting a preview of the current work before you vanish into the night?

We'll miss you! (...btw)

@Pete - Mentioned this in an earlier post. The betas are not shipping with the Blank template. The final 1.0 should.

@Novack - I'll continue posting doc updates in the Torque 2D and 3D threads.

Thank you for getting some documentation on the Shape editor.

It would be great if you can provide a sample Player class implementation, something slim and simple, something which I can expand if needed. The current Player class is fine but it is bloated(too many features)

Gamebase class tutorial. Step-by-step style tutorial, please. I know it is heavily commented in source however a complete Gamebase tutorial which explain its features and "How" to use it is greatly appreciated.

Michael - I sent an email through the "Contact Us" Link just before I remembered this thread, but the Shape Editors page in the Documentation has broken links to images.

@Michael - Thanks for the update.

Some recent changes to the editors and the doc structure have caused me to change the layout of some of the guides. Not all of the content has been uploaded. From here on, the online documentation will be changing daily. Bare with me.

thank you Michael, for all your hard work, and for the latest Doc push. T3D can only be as good as its documentation.

@Steve - Thanks. I needed that. As I mentioned before, my involvement in the community is being reduced to this thread and the Torque 2D doc thread...and IRC since I love the devs in there. If you see another documentation thread pop up, feel free to forward them to this thread. It's the only way I'm going see feedback.

To add to my last post, every day at 3:00pm (PST) there will be new docs available online.

Hi,

Can "Adding A COLLADA Model" get updated in the 1.0 docs? I need to learn how to use the LOD features of the new collada importer GUI to use dae LOD files.

Cheers,

Andy

@Andy - Working on it.

@All - Ok. The first 1.0 push should be live in about 20 min. Only one new doc was added, but quite a bit has gone on behind the scenes.

1. I'm now only generating one set of docs, instead of two (one offline, one online).

2. I am able to push the online docs live on my own (instead of getting a web dev to help me).

3. Added Basic Math section to TorqueScript

4. Fixed some broken images

5. Set up code and images for "Previous" "Next" at the bottom of articles.

6. Excluding specific folders from the TOC, such as "Component Tutorial"

7. Set up generation of individual doc subjects, such as an Artist Only version.

From here I can focus on content creation.

Excellent Mich, is a good idea to manage the documentation as a live document, there will be always something to add, or something to improve.
