Official Torque 3D Documentation Feedback
=========================================================================

6/16/09 Update Changed title of thread to Torque 3D Beta, instead of Official Torque 3D. When the final release ships, I want to have a clean thread for new users to be able to search through and post in. This thread will be archived.

7/17/09 Update: Tooltips work. Component Tutorials work in certain browsers. CLICK HERE for SVN Change Log.

9/31/09 Update: Posted full TOC for docs, using WIP template to hold spot for final docs to be written. CLICK HERE for SVN Change Log.

Any news about the TorqueScript docs?
(wtf, I posted and it disappeared, then it said I was not allowed to post more than once per minute?)
edit: and of course now they both appear, even though it said the last page was 12, great forum :D

The tuts we were going to push has some bugs in them, and bypassed some of the new Torque 3D systems. In other words, they were good but contained a few hacks there were counter productive.

Monday or Tuesday is my new target.

@Michael: Please add a section to how to do an export properly in Houdini Apprentice HD. I found this link to be helpful which you might want to include with a litle reformating: http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini9.5/nodes/out/torque

Also found this video tutorial which helped me: http://www.vimeo.com/1220164

@All: does anyone got any other tuts/vids for exporting in Houdini?

I think the documents page would be more usefull if there were more completed documents in it.. :)

Kidding, how goes the progress?

I think it would also help to describe how to get stuff from blender. More and more good artists around using blender.

Some paragraphs on what it means to use Advanced or Basic lighting would be most welcome.

By "what it means" I mean to understand the differences and the causes and consequences of the choice.

- hardware requirements
- post processing capacity / limitations
- visual impact examples
- performance impact statistics
- shadows capacity / limitations

Of course, the more comprenhensive the better, but with those points covered, the docs would be really helpful in showing the engine versatility, and at the same time, explaining how to use it.

Now that I think of it, some paragraphs on how to engage a development to exploit the best of the engine's low or high end visuals/requirements would be excellent.

I totally agree with Novack on the when to use basic verses advanced verses PureLight.

Is there a way to put an icon in before the drill down of a chapter to show if it has been content in it or not. Getting to the point we have to click on each leaf to see what's got content or not. Thanks for the consideration.

You should add an article about the compiling process, as I needed to dig through some TGEA docs to find out that I need to download and include DirectX 9 SDK.

I didn't have to do this with TGE, so this was new to me.

@anuther1
Probably some time in September since from the first post there's (or there will, it's kinda tricky with time travel) an update there :p

Why the place holder docs? This makes it confusing to see what documentation we ACTUALLY have without opening them all up.

We could use a section on how to read, write, and parse an XML file.

Thanks

Any ETA on any of the content in the Artist's sections; Adding Static Shapes, Adding Level Props, Adding a Character, and Adding Buildings? I was under the impression that the techniques for most of this stuff was similar, if not the same as previous methods. If that's the case isn't the documentation a simple cut/paste (or am i making a large oversight here?).

Dont know if may be useful, but I've compiled some little bits of info scattered through the forums, on the use of the SFX system, and added it to the -very sucint- SFX Overview.

Look under "Basic Reference" and "Best Practices".
