Well i think the reason is the lighting inside the room(hallway) is not too good, it looks unreal (so flat and toonish i think).

I can look at the file, but you will need to include the CSX file.

Here are some already defined forum search that reek of information.
how to create a portal
creating a portal
And here is a test BSP i built a long time ago, who have working portals to example how they work, and how to use them. I always find example is best teacher.

Your use of portal is not correct. One do not place a brush in the space to be a separate portal, and call that brush a portal brush. Portal brush are used to cover the openings to the NEW area that will be a new zone. If the area is not open to the playing zone, it is already a separate zone, as it is closed off. ah I forgot to delete the small portal entity at the center of the hallway.
yeah i've tried to cover the 2 openings on each side with portal, but it still not workin.
and another strange thing is, inside the rooms i must create a simple brush and set it to portal so that the room can became a zone, if I remove it the room is not a zone anymore (i think the room has no openings).

If your not going to enter that 'empty' space, use a BIG block and fill it in. That open 'promenade' area do not need to be portal off, it is way to OPEN to consider it.

is there a way (without changing the sun ambience and color on the world editor) so i can make the hallway a little bit darker than the outside area ? I'm new to this lighting things.
hey thx for the reply Caylo :)

Use darker textures, or a subtle light who cast dark contrast color.
