You must log in to continue! Muahahaha!

I would like to bring this to attention, for it is extremely annoying. Every 2-3 minutes, the server logs me out of GarageGames. It is really annoying when I am in a private forum waiting for a response to my thread, and then when I try to refresh, it says that I must log in to continue.
I am running Mac OS X 10.5 using Safari 4 (Beta), though I do not believe it is my system, because what I know about networking would say that the server thinks I am logged out.
Is anyone else getting this same issue? I do not believe this should be left unchecked.

Nope. I only have to log in about once a month.

Admittedly I'm slightly fuzzy in this area, but I think your understanding of how the logged in state is handled may be incorrect. The web server doesn't keep a record of the fact you're logged in nor is it disconnecting you, cookies are used. Perhaps you have some kind of overly aggressive privacy setting that's deleting the GGLOGIN cookie from your system?

I only use Safari on my iphone but have no problems with it there, it stays logged in even through hard reboots.Admittedly I'm slightly fuzzy in this area, but I think your understanding of how the logged in state is handled may be incorrect. Joking aside though, if this is a widespread problem, we want to know.

We can't reproduce it here...our cookies are decidedly delicious. :)Joking aside though, if this is a widespread problem, we want to know.

It does NOT log me out of TDN...
I do not have much privacy settings, it removes cookies once a week.

I've only had it happen once or twice a month to me. It seems like I get logged out every time there's a site update.

EDIT:
I always thought it was because of whatever cleanup settings I have in my browsers, it happens to rarely.

I sometimes get logged out if I use multiple browsers. But I've never noticed it erratically logging me out on my Mac with the latest OS and version of Safari.EDIT:

@Tyler - Might be way off base, but are you on AOL? Not something I've seen recently but a few years back various forum and CMS packages had issues with AOL users getting logged out constantly. Something to do with the way AOL uses multiple proxies which messes with session info used to keep track of your login state... mostly voodoo to me, but it's a possibility I guess.

It seemed to have stopped over the past hour, but I am not going to hold my breath.

Hrm, GGLOGIN cookie has a 14 day expiry if you click "remember me" when you log in, so people getting logged out a couple of times a month is normal behaviour. Switching browsers or PC's would make it look like it happens more often because obviously the cookie is unique to the browser and/or PC. So, everyone else is seeing normal behaviour. If you don't click "remember me" the cookie expires at the end of the session...
Beyond that I'm a bit vague on details, something is fluffing up your GGLOGIN cookie.

I meant AOL the ISP, not IM, but anyhow it was just a thought. :)Hrm, GGLOGIN cookie has a 14 day expiry if you click "remember me" when you log in, so people getting logged out a couple of times a month is normal behaviour. Since my forced logouts have seemed to coincide with site updates I'm hoping that was the case here. Though over the past week its happened every couple of days at work and home. Possibly something going on with the login not being stored correctly for multiple computers?

This just happened to me again. Been surfing fine all day, had the page open for a while, click the forum tab to refresh the page and bam, you must log in.Since my forced logouts have seemed to coincide with site updates I'm hoping that was the case here. This happens to me just about every time I quit and re-login to Safari. FWIW, It was happening with Safari 3 and now with Safari 4. As a whole I'm using whatever updated webkit is on my machine at the time for rendering, but that uses Safari {whatever's installed} for non-rendering features.Gary (-;

If you updated recently with software updates, then you need to reset safari, the cookies think they are invalid and need to be completely remade.

if you are using Firefox, it will log you out if you close that tab or just close out of Garage games, this can be changed in the settings though I think because it is a security thing.

i have no clue how it works though but i played a game which i can do that and i love it as i always go back and forth typing little here and little there. i knwo it can be done if it has been done there it would be the perfect solution for all these auto log outs. i have not had any problem with any site logging me out as non of the sites i go to log me out i stay log in for ever if i have it saved that way.

Dan Wiseman its not when you close the tab or close out of GG. i have had the same problem i type a long post then then when i enter it i am logged out. the first 2 times it was not to bad as they was smaller posts but i had made a long post and i said forget it i not redoing that all over again. they need to make it to where it saves your work wile you type it so when to go though some pages and want to go back to where to left off on typing you can continue it without copy and paste its already saved on that history.i have no clue how it works though but i played a game which i can do that and i love it as i always go back and forth typing little here and little there. i knwo it can be done if it has been done there it would be the perfect solution for all these auto log outs. i have not had any problem with any site logging me out as non of the sites i go to log me out i stay log in for ever if i have it saved that way.

For your information, this took me 2 logins to post. That is sad.
04/24/2009 (8:26 am)
Well brandon, that would be impossible for GG to implement. If your browser does not already save it for you, then you may want to get an enhanced browser. For your information, this took me 2 logins to post. That is sad.

I have discovered it takes exactly 5 minutes for it to log me out. I doubt the cookie expires in 5 minutes... Especially if you click 'remember me'.
