I was wondering, does the RTS kit have to have multiplayer and a singleplayer mode? can i just make a regular single player RTS/ and could i make TF2 like interface where say, 1 on 1, army vs. army can just find matches? like a Halo interface for multiplayer? really what im asking is if you can make an multiplayer only game, but also a single player game?

you mean basically 2 different games. you see a multiplayer version and you sell a single player version

if i am right then thats about what i am going to do i going to sell a all single player version and if people buy it and they like it then i will make a multiplayer version. your making the game you can sell it how ever you want.

only thing is that this is a kit and it might be limited to just one game so you would have to buy the license 2 times i think.

Actually i think the agreement says you can sell an unlimited amount of single or multiplayer games, and i think the license is free if u buy the RTS kit, right?

yes you can make as many games you want with the engine. i was talking about this kit i don't know its license but if it say unlimited amount of games or something like that then you can use it for both sinage and mutiplayer and for how ever many games you want to use it on.

the engine though you can make as many as you want but these kit's and things have there own license.

Brandon is correct in that not all content packs or kits follow the same licensing scheme as the Torque Engine does. I know of many content sellers who stipulate that the assets can only be used in one game. Always read the EULA to any content packs or kits you intend to use.

The RTS kit allows you to make as many games as you want with it.
Quoted from the RTS kit EULA
Quote:2. LICENSE GRANT.

Licensor grants Licensee a single "seat" to an individual, a limited non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the RTS Starter Kit ("Starter Kit") for the purposes of making source code and object code for an unlimited number of electronic single or multi-user Games ("Games").

(a) Licensee may publicly sell, distribute, release, publish, transmit and/or exploit any Games created hereunder.

(b) Licensee may have the Games published in any channel by any publisher with no royalties. Licensee does not have to offer the Games to GarageGames for publication.

To answer your original question: yes you can make a single player only and/or a multiplayer game. You can have as many different types of play modes as you code into it.

But can you just buy the company license once to sell multiple games after another?

Not to rain on your parade Ben, but you might want to start small and plan just one game! Initially I also planned to write two RTSs, but now I know there's just going to be just one. They're a lot of work.

we already stated you can sell multiple games with the engine and with this kit it seems. just remember if you plan on buying other stuff and want to use it in more then one game read the EULA and see if you can use it in many games.

you really should read all EULA stuff when buying anything for your game thats the reason why they make them is for you to read. if you don't read them you can get into trouble if you did not follow what the EULA said and they will care less if you read it or not.
