Torque Collaborative Design World Tool

by BrokeAss Games · in General Add-On Discussion · 02/27/2009 (4:07 pm) · 11 replies

I recently purchased the Torque Collaborative Design World Tool and just had a moment to merge it into my project when low and behold, no source.
I have never been unhappy with a single GG product.
I'm hoping it's as simple as the wrong download being listed in my products.
If this is a stand-alone editor for only stock torque it is useless to me and I hate to say it, I would want my money back ASAP.
Seems like a great tool but if it's just a "demo" I can't use it.
No source, no deal.
Can somebody please clarify and hopefully I'm just being a newb?

I don't see anything in the product description that says source is included, and it seems like I remember the guys that made it being hesitant about releasing its source. I may be thinking of someone else there though.

It should probably be noted that the tool isn't a GG product.

I'm a content provider here also, so I'm aware this is 3rd party.
But it is not clear in the product page that this cannot be used with modified torque projects which is the whole point of Torque.
Also, their support forum has only 1 post (from their administrator).
The way it was distributed to me, it's about as useful to Torque as an origami boulder.
Once again, I'm hoping the download is simply incorrect.

I remember seeing that Collaborative Design tool, I though it would make a great tool. But if it's only usable on "stock" Torque then yeah it's definitely useless.

I laughed hard at the origami boulder link! Nice metaphor.

I just refunded it from your account. This criticism has come up with a couple of different people that I have talked to. Great tool for stock Torque, but not as useful for changed codebases.

You might want to include that it does not include source to keep others from making the same mistake.

I never thought I would ask for a refund here because the products have been so good.
If the source becomes available I will purchase this again.
Thank you very much!

@GG - Such a tool would be a boon to T3D team workflows. Also, I recall online collaborative editing being one of the things Simultronics touts about their engine.

According to the EULA you are suppose to get the source code

6. Confidentiality.

Licensor has provided Licensee with highly proprietary development information constituting the Software, both in source and object code and the documentation that accompanies said code, to enable Licensee to develop Games in connection with the Torque Engines. Licensee shall maintain the Software in strict confidence and will use such Software only in accordance with this Agreement.

A pity because I'd probably pick it up if it came with the source so that it could merged it with AFX.

Okay, why are you letting them break the EULA ? They did not provide the source like it said, so why does GG not do anything about this ? Sorry but I just do not understand half that is allowed to go on around here.

Ya so why isnt the source included? It looks to me by reading the EULA that it should be.
