DTS/Blender/Creating an Advanced Character
http://tdn.garagegames.com/wiki/DTS/Blender/Creating_an_Advanced_Character
This is giving me a headache. I am trying to get my own character, but the more I learn the more confused I get.
Since there is a new exporter with more functionality, perhaps there are better ways to get a simple but functional character for my game?
Let me state what I want, and tell you what I have done so far in order to get there, i am sure I didn't use the shortest way in getting where I want.
I want a female character which can go alongside with the villager that I have purchased from Torque (medieval).
i learned how to get a nice mesh, though for now I settle with a model from Makehuman.
I have read that one can use Makehuman, though I have to scale the mesh down really a lot in order to get below the 2500 vertices that Torque can handle.
But after getting my mesh, I just want to rig it, with the rig given in the above tutorial.
This is where I am lost. I can get the armature from the exporter, which works, though not quite after my liking, but I want to set it up in order to get some basic functionality like run, walk, jump etc. I thought I could combine the mesh with the DTS tutorial on Advanced Character, but I cannot get it right. I cannot even get the .blend files to run properly since no matter what I try I don't see any animation from the example files.
I know, it is a lot I ask, but somewhere I think I am missing the road a little. Can someone show me another way?
Many thanks

by the way, thanks for setting up a blender forum, though J. Greenawalt has been so kind to provide another forum for his exporter, but I think it is best to have it here.
