Maya 2k8 exporting issues

Hello,
I'm having an issue with Maya 2k8 x64 in that when I pull a static mesh into Torque (a simple sphere), all that is brought in is a giant translucent "plane".
Here is a screen shot
I searched the forums but could not find that anyone else had this problem. Anyone else experience this?

This is really strange. We tested another sphere using Maya 8.5 x32 and it worked fine. Any other ideas?

I made the sphere much much smaller. Now I can see the bounding box, but I'm still getting the strange white translucent plane.. This is really strange. We tested another sphere using Maya 8.5 x32 and it worked fine. Any other ideas?

Another thing to do is check your outliner and make sure you don't have anything unintentionally grouped under your dts base node. I believe if you put a light or anything inside that group, it will be included in the final dts, and if your light is far away, it'll make a large object.
Also, check it in ShowToolPro.

Start a new file, create a sphere, add a bounding box and export it fresh. Make sure you're in meters, not centimeters (maya default)Another thing to do is check your outliner and make sure you don't have anything unintentionally grouped under your dts base node. I would check your scale first

Speaking with my brother he mentioned that the translucent plane is to be expected. So I'm no longer concerned about that, but still I am unable to view the object.
I've followed the steps given for the tutorial "Exporting a Simple Object" and everything in the outliner looks the same. I'll give it another go.
One thing I'd like to mention. At my day job I use Maya 8.5 x32 bit. I tried a test using that version of Maya and everything worked perfectly when I got home. Not sure whats going on there.
I'll take some screen grabs of the outliner and such to show you guys what's going on.

2. Created my box, unwrapped it, and applied a texture.
3. Created my bounding box and locked it.
4. Embeded the shape and then clicked "Register Details" and got this error "No detail meshes found"

Here is what my Hypergraph looks like after this error

5. So I created an empty group, named it and parented it to the correct node.

6. Exported the shape, created the .mtl file by exporting the .obj and then placed the necessary files into their folder

7. Tested it in ShowToolPro and got this:

8. Then checked it inside the engine. I see a bounding box, but no geometry

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't figure out what is wrong. I seem to be doing everything correctly, but it just doesn't want to work! I'll keep plugging away.
