Cel-Shading?

I know that many people are saying that Cel-Shading (that which makes the 3d games render looking like cartoons) is becoming the new "Lens Flare" of today (meaning, its getting overused), but nevertheless, I have three questions:
1.- Could Torque handle this? Has it ever?
2.- Has any of you worked with Cel-Shading?
3.- Anyone cares to do a little comparison, pros and cons of using this? Am interested mostly in the technological aspect.. is it harder or easier to work with? is it harder to reach perfection with a photo-realistic approach, than with a cel-shaded one, and by how much, etc?
Thanks to all who answer, I just care to hear your thoughts B)

It depends on the look and feel of the game as to whether or not cel-shading is "right". Jet Grind Radio and the PS2 Fur Fighter's seem right. Dave Mirra BMX would seem strange cel-shaded. A lot of people hated the idea of the new Zelda being cel-shaded, but I think it fits the actual game very well.

Modeling for cel-shading is a bit trickier. Most modelers make most of their models for conventional shading. Cel-shading is a bit trickier to make look correct on the models.

From a technical standpoint, there's not a strong reason to go for either one. It's more a demand of the type of game.Modeling for cel-shading is a bit trickier. Most modelers make most of their models for conventional shading. Cel-shading is a bit trickier to make look correct on the models.

1. Yes it can be done, since anyone that buys the SDK has full access to the source.
2. You can achieve a similar affect using the appropriate textures (see Marble Blase / Dog Of Prey).
3. It's really easy to do with hardware shaders, and they'll turn up in Torque eventually.
I quite like it in the games i've seen it in, but I think i'd prefer proper graphics for most game types.
