by Phillip O'Shea · in TGB Platformer Kit · 02/06/2009 (3:59 pm) · 9 replies

I've released an update for the PSK and launched the PSK Pro. Hit up my blog for more info.

The best part is that I have included ALL (thats right, bold and caps) of the updates for the Pro for those who don't wish to upgrade!

If you have any problems, questions or concerns, leave them here and I'll get back to you.

Thanks guys

I have been trying to group items in the object tree. This gives me nothing but grief and a lot of lost and wasted work. Have you tried to work with grouping items?

My experience with grouping from the editor is very limited. I understand that grouping is physical grouping and not just by reference. It is not like grouping in TGE or TGEA from the mission editor.

What exactly is the problem?

It might be best to take that topic to the general forum.

What is a component in reference to TGB?
(It seemed that behaviors were the equivalent of TXB components.)

Also, did installing PSK update my TGB files?
> An update is now available which contains the binary executables
> (TGB 1.7.4 + PSK Pro)
Which files would I look at to see if they were updated?

The binary files are located in <InstallDir>\PlatformerStarterKit\Binaries.

A component is similar to a behavior, but it is source based. Unfortunately it has no real "hooks" which help create them during object creation, but they are handy when used with behaviors.

The preliminary documentation page is now up. It covers the most pertinent changes you may need to make when upgrading the PSK.

You can view the doc here.

If anything needs clarifying, let me know and I will get onto it!

hello there, Phillip.

im glad you released a new version of the PSK, but i'd like to ask you a question:

why is it that us, the old users of the PSK, wont get the update to the PSK Pro, when both (the Pro and non-Pro) versions cost the same?...

dont you think its kinda unfair for us, the old customers to be treated that way?... the changes may be few, but the advantages are many in the pro version, the way i see it, so, if we already paid the ammount that the pro version is costing right now, i think it should be just right to give us the changes in the source code of the engine, even more so, if you're a TGB Pro Licensee... dont you think?

The price that is shown on the product page for you is the discounted price. Ordinarily the Pro sells for $99.

Sorry for any confusion!
