So the old feedback thread was getting pretty large, and I want to continue to have one central place to look at your suggestions/recommendations and make sure the web team can log them and work on them over the next month. Just as a quick recap, here is the stuff you asked for and we fixed (in no particular order):
And here is some stuff we've logged into our project management software, and we plan on fixing in future releases. (Note: There is no guarantee of exactly when this will get fixed...we prioritize our task list after each site release for the next release of the site. But we are looking into all of these issues) Again, this is in no particular order:
We're shooting for the next release of the site on Feb. 18th. You guys have made a TON of great suggestions, so if there's anything I missed in the flurry of the site's launch, feel free to mention it below!
Keep 'em coming!

- Improve posting resources and upload file capabilities
- Allow users to show their e-mails in their profiles (opt-in)

Since it isn't mentioned above, add the TGE (Private) to the View All Unread feature. The TGB (Private) is there.

I still want to see if somebody is a GG Employee, Associate or "just" a TG... owner.
I also want the associate forum back, please.
And I really miss the dev shots :(
Other than that - looking pretty good now, thanks for your hard work! :)

Show all watched threads still shows a blank white page for me.I still want to see if somebody is a GG Employee, Associate or "just" a TG... owner.

Also, I'd like to know more than "torque owner" about someone. Especially for recruiting or something. They could say "oh, I own TGEA" but only own TGB or something... if I don't sit there and make a useless forum post on TGEA private, there's no way to know (and especially since you guys are thinking about allowing people to cross between those forums!)

Maybe when you don't have permission to view a resource because you don't have the appropriate license, it'd be nice to know what license is required to view that resource (maybe I'd buy xyz if I knew that I would get forum post abc that has the solution to my problem in it...)Also, I'd like to know more than "torque owner" about someone. Also, as Im sure has been mentioned before, it would be nice to have a preview for forum posts and topics. (blogs too).

When you a post a new forum topic and then edit the topic after saving I always get an "application error" message. It does seem to save fine, but I have to go back to the forum topic manually. Editing any of the posts below the main topic are seem to edit and save fine. Also, as Im sure has been mentioned before, it would be nice to have a preview for forum posts and topics. (blogs too).

On suggestions: is there any chance of making the pagination optional? Or at least an extra link "Show all", something like that?
And Deb, since you asked, I will bring again two non-listed requests:
* The "Community" banner is really distracting. Is a design thing, so pretty much subject to opinions, but I think it needs work. Something more compact and homogeneus... and without people's pictures.
* Could be the Markup language reference expanded a bit? There are some undocumented possibilities.

Some might not realize, but cool new functions are emerging all around the site that we've never had before. We still bitch about stuff, but it is very clear, that we are being listened to. Whether the site looks like what I'd like it to be or not just yet doesn't matter for now, because I clearly see the possibility and the will to make it what we want it to be. That's already a huge positive change when comparing to the old site. Thanks for that.
Oh yes, and as much as I like Apparatus, looking at him all day is just not heathy. :) (Sorry App, had to say it.:) Change that banner to something smaller / dynamic! Why don't you put the resource ads in there? I liked those. They were probably the only ads I liked on the net.

Oh, I just realized the designer has a beard fetish. How.. extraordinary.

I could see a grand total of three threads. Is there some way to just pack everything a little more efficiently, maybe take out some of the huge blocks of empty space? Obviously this is a bit of a special case since there were categories there, but even if you just fill the screen with threads, there's still only half as many [without scrolling] as I remember there being in the old site.
Also, please please please could you change the stylesheet so that visited links are a different color to unvisited ones? I find that that's how I keep track of a lot of things [such as which blogs I've read].
Trying to make visited and unvisited links the same color is one of those things that's trying to make a site "prettier" and totally sacrifices usability.

Something that still seems a bit off is that there's so much space on the site that it's often hard to actually get to the content. For example, I clicked unread posts just now, and this appeared: chunkyks.com/threethreads.png.I could see a grand total of three threads. Is there some way to just pack everything a little more efficiently, maybe take out some of the huge blocks of empty space? And the community banner that he mentioned is a big part of what makes the first screenful of unread posts so... wasteful [from my previous post].

Oh, and I'd like to back up what Novack said; I'd really really like an option to have pagination more configurable. Obviously you still have to have a cap, but perhaps you could make the number of comments/threads configurable between 10/25/50/100 ?And the community banner that he mentioned is a big part of what makes the first screenful of unread posts so... wasteful [from my previous post].

The Mark All as Read button could use a little tweaking. It seems like it's marking everything unread at the time you push the button as read, as opposed to the old way where it only applied to posts that were unread when you clicked View Unread Posts. The old way would be preferable as posts that are made while reading/responding to threads don't slip by when you're done and hit the button.

Also, Gary, we did change the links of pages you've visited to change to a different color, but it's pretty subtle (from a blue to purple). It may need to have a more obvious contrast...looking into that.

What about a choice of color theme(s) for the colorblind among us - the site still leaves me with a headache from the white and pale blue(?) glare.
Oh, and still missing that "View unanswered threads" link from the old "What's New" page.

Option for pagination? Definitely! That's my most hated thing about the new site (other than color). What about a choice of color theme(s) for the colorblind among us - the site still leaves me with a headache from the white and pale blue(?) glare.
Quote:Profiles have blogs, resources, and forum posts by that authorThe "USER" has created "X threads" gives an incorrect count in some cases (mine for example), and the "..and X posts" link could use a bit of organization rather than sorting by date of the post. The old site had the posts listed by forum categories which made it easier to find a certain post or thread if I wanted to view it again. The way it is now, it's probably easier to simply try and use SEARCH. On a similar note the "Watched Threads" page could use a similar organizational approach.
Quote:Posting a new reply takes you to the last reply to the threadYet editing that post takes you back to the first page once again. Annoying.
Quote:Hyperlinks change color if you've clicked on themDo they really? Goes back to the colorblind issue, I just can't see it.
Oh, and still missing that "View unanswered threads" link from the old "What's New" page.

I second Javier Canons post (#14) that Display by category is greatly missed. Quote:
i miss the option for display the resources by category.
Associate Jaimi McEntire
King of Flapjacks
This looks fixed now - at least it doesn't happen on the resources anymore.
