Question about T3D

This may have already been answered, but if so, I haven't found it. Will T3D support dif's / Constructor, or will that end of things be phased out entirely shooting more for levels made strictly in a Max type program.

I think Matt has addressed this. In the long run, we're likely to move away from DIFs, but for Torque 3D, we may provide some fluid conversion utility to maintain support for them.

I don't foresee Constructor being a viable option concerning T3D in the not to distant future. Make no mistake, I think Matt and the others did a fantastic job with it, and I remain very fond of brush based mapping. Most engines appear to be pulling away from this though, except for one's like UT and Jupiter (afew others as well). They would need to dedicate a team unto itself to rework Constructor I'd think for the future IMO.

I'm sure Matt did; he's very thorough. Thanks for the reply.

Either way. The torque engine needs some more dedicated tools if they are going to move towards another format. Milkshape and Blender seem to be the way to go, with Milkshape being the best DTS nobrains exporter. But either way, there has been a call for it in other threads to see a Constructor upgrade setup that can deal with DTS as well as DIF and shaders and the like. So players dont have to load up a entire level to check out 1 object. This also includes Showtools pro..

Since i work with Torque, i really miss some powerfull tools. Constructor was not a bad thing. But needs a update for proper using in in T3D. Maybe a exporter in Constructor, make DTS or DIF... depend on what you like. It is really nice to work buildings and such stuff with Constructor. But if i use DIF objects, then i get soon a lag level. So a exporter make DTS would be nice.sry. for my bad english:)

All buildings and lighting done in constructor solely. To ignore tools that work, or dismiss them when they clearly work even for low poly games (not everyone is going to be making HALO3). There was talking about level sized level creating. Thats a next generation Constructor we would like to see. plus materials and enhanced texture features.
