Constructor or 3DStudio Max?

If you had the choice of using 3D studio max or Constructor for dif's which one would you use?

I would say 3ds max. I've been working on building race tracks lately and using splines saves a ton of time. It's also nice to be able unwrap your models. But, I've also used 3ds max far longer than Constructor. My 2 cents.

Ok thanks for the reply so is texturing in 3ds max as easy as in constructor?

I wouldn't say easier but being able to unwrap a model and texturing it allows for a greater degree of artistry. Whereas in Constuctor you simply apply/position/scale & tile a square texture to a face regardless of the face's shape, which can lead to problems matching up seams and contours for the overall shape.

The thing to keep in mind is that CSG style geometry (brush based) requires a different style of modeling outlook: building with blocks as opposed to polygon shaping. And I don't think you can unwrap a DIF shape like you can a DTS model (I may be wrong though).

Many people report using Max (or Blender & others) to make their initial model and exporting it to MAP and then importing it into Constructor. From there they then make final optimizations and texturing changes before exporting to DIF. You still have to design your shape around the convex/concave limitations of BSP regardless of what you use to create it.
