Did we get taken ?

by J L · in Combat Starter Kit · 01/26/2009 (1:11 pm) · 9 replies

I think its time to have my investor call his credit card company and just wipe this crap off my hard drive, cause it is not even being supported by the people who developed it. Ashley stated that he would be here 3 times a day, I havent heard squat about this kit in quite awhile.

just curious, why did you buy the kit in the first place? Its a starter kit. What are you looking for exactly that makes you so frustrated. Ashley (she, btw) has been very busy with some stuff that is coming up. And she does drop by the site when time permits.

Now, what i can suggest, is that you perhaps step back and figure out if your making a CSK clone game or if your going to take the kit and make your own game with it. Saying things like "did we get taken" makes me wonder where your thought process is and what do you expect. There has been the list of things like some bugs and docs, but i seem to not be having any issues, or studios like runningbirdstudios.com/ seem to be moving ahead not to bad.

Its a starter kit, not meant to be the perfect solution for all your woes. The art alone is worth the price paid. Top off the code and working examples (ie the vehicle guis) the teams and CTF examples.

When will the product be delivered ? - thats the rub with me - no source art as advertised ( or "inaccurate" source art ).

The old "starter kit" arguement is sooooo lame and is so overused on this site (Rts kit is a prime example). Hello world is a starter kit as well.

All else in this kit is great - just deliver what is advertised and what I paid for.

When you actually make something on or from the CSK "starter kit" you'll tend to need some or all of the missing (*.ms3d) source files to modify to your own current conditions, I understand they're not going to help me make my changes but the fact still remains.

P.S. I Agree.... That which has not been supplied yet.

List of missing or corrupt source files for *.dts objects: (Edit:CSK 1.0.2/MilkShape3D 1.8.3)

I think if we all are patient good things will come.

I have been a supporter of Ashley and the crew for a long time and know that their word is good.

The CSK is awesome... it's funny because for a year straight I was implementing almost all of what they had in the CSK but I had a ton of bugs.

Once I bought the CSK and saw that it worked as good as it did I ported my game Shattered Earth to it in no time.

This Starter Kit is well worth the money.

I have one issue and that was I don't have the weapon models so I can resize them to my new player model but someone else in the community has just posted a fix to make weapon images use the scale variable.

So if we keep calm good things will come :)

BTW thanks Edward for noticing Running Bird Studios...

Sorry... This site is a bit confiusing but that isn't an exscuse by any means. I am trying my best to get the vehicle physics working. I hired a programmer to implement some things that I didn't think would take so long. If things work out as planned you should be able to stick c4 to a vehicle and have it stay put when the vehicle moves. Also the vehicle collision as far as bumping into other vehicles or running over a tree in a tank should be ready in the near future.

As with any huge project there are little bugs we don't see right off but have to be fixed before we can offer up the updates. That is basically what happened here. The two new vehicles added a few unwexpected quirks. When this is ready we will let you know.

This is excellent news Ashley. We really appreciate you stopping by.

If you get the vehicle physics working, as well as moving C4, and hoverjets.. then wow. I'll buy another copy!

I can really appreciate the new features... but all of the missing *.ms3d files would be nice until the new update comes out.

P.S. once the Private forums get set back up properly, i dont see any reason why you couldnt ask us for a little help Ashley, Were pretty much all in the same boat here.

I am really looking forward to a TGEA compatible version of this. I'll buy it as soon as you release the TGEA version. Best of luck wrapping it up, we all know this stuff can have hidden surprises.
