What do ya think?

Hi, I'd like some opinions on the recent game we are working on at the moment. It's a 80s arcade and 70s anime style shooter that we've been working on for a few months. It's getting near completion and I'd like to see some of your opinons (as developers and gamers). The engine we are currently using is 3D Gamestudio A6, but we plan to get Torque very soon. Keep in mind that 3DGS isn't exactly the best engine there is, it's easy to use but it's also very limited so no bloom. Here's the alpha promo which is a bit old now, but it's still sufficient to show off the game.

So, what do you think? Be honest.

Actually looks neat. Love that old FM CHIP style music...

This seems like something that would definitely eat through my wallet quickly if I found it in an arcade.

Looks really good, I like the graphics for the explosion and laser effects. The small explosions look great and very anime-esque like something you'd see going on in the background of an episode Gundam. And that song is great. Though the shots showing scenes characters seem very static, like their images are just being slid across the screen. This seems like something that would definitely eat through my wallet quickly if I found it in an arcade.

As for the laser effect, it has been updated alot, and look much better. As for the animations (explosions etc) are the pride of the modeler/animator. We're making sure to polish the game well despite it being on 3DGS. Nice to see you also noticed the anime "flare". As for the quarter stealing...we're thinking about making an arcade version as well, or maybe a "arcade style" for pc, quarters and all, but that's a huge maybe.
edit: fyi, you mention the quarter stealing: www.kinoone.com

:D nice comments indeed. The graphics are a bit updated and the characters are being redrawn. The characters look that way because we will be doing cutscenes "manga style" and the talking will be a variation of this style: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FNRBaTZQugAs for the laser effect, it has been updated alot, and look much better. GameTrailers (not HQ)
YouTube HQ version
(I recommend the youtube version, it looks good at fullscreen too.)
We're really excited about this game and look forward to releasing it. Also we updated the website with the graphics being ripped straight from the game: See it
I would blog these things but....meh :D
And also we may have a good distribution deal on our hands for Kino, but that's all I'll say about it, expect Kino before spring is over.

To answer this before it's asked: Yes those games shown will be in Kino One. This post may bring up more questions, but, fire away. :D
The trailer hasn't been submitted to GamersHell or GameTrailers yet, but expect to see it there.

Well it's more of a teaser actually, it's very short, I recommend watching in HQ and Fullscreen:To answer this before it's asked: Yes those games shown will be in Kino One. This post may bring up more questions, but, fire away. :D

About Kino: For those who have seen Kino and noticed we haven't released yet, don't worry. We're still planning on release and it will be very soon. We haven't done any site updates in a while either, but that's because we took a vacation from it for a bit. Yay Florida. :D
All in all we're still working and it will be done asap.
