I have been considering upgrading to TGEA, and was wondering exactly what is T3D? Is it a whole other engine like TGE and TGEA, and will it replace TGE/TGEA?

T3D = TGEA

They're just using different naming conventions these days.

Correct. TGEA is becoming Torque 3D. The official name you will hear employees referring to is Torque 3D, not Torque3D, T3D, or Torque Three D.

Torque 3D =)

Keep in mind that Torque 3D is going to be a paid upgrade from TGEA, so just buying TGEA right now won't get you Torque 3D.

It's also been mentioned the Torque 3D will be discounted upgrade for those already owning TGEA but is likely to cost a lot more than usual Torque products (values of $1000+ have been mentioned) for those that aren't already TGEA owners.

Whether that ends up being the case of course we shall wait and see but in the mean time TGEA is a great product anyway so I'd see no reason not to upgrade to it.
