@Kevin, AFX is more than just a "spells package". Its an entire framework for choreographing effects as well as providing code for many new graphical enhancements. In my project we use AFX for nearly everything - melee combat, sitting / kneeling / falling over / standing, drawing and sheathing weapons, emotes, environment effects and a lot more. If you are a programmer AFX is truly invaluable.

There are just too many features to list, which says a lot. You can check the AFX Public Forum for more information, but I can tell you it was one of the best purchases I made before I became an employee.
I know it greatly helped me create new special effects for a survival horror game I was working on, develop a new kind of inventory system, create an advanced camera system tailored to the theme, and so on.
