New Year, new to Constructor

I think I must be missing something.

I thought I would try my had at making some difs using Constructor (1.0.51) for an product I am developing.

As a test, I wanted to create an Octagonal Room.

My first test was using the Build Tube tool.
So I built my 8 sided Octagon, and then hollowed it out using the Hollow Brush.
Textured it, everything looks good.
Export using DIF.

Import into my Application, and I fall though the floor, not everywere just in weird places.

Ok, thought that was strange, and rebuilt it. Same thing happened.

Decided to start removing objects out of this equation.

So tried my Octagon Room in a stock TGEA 1.7.1 and I still fell though the floor.

Humm. ok, this is nuts.

So I started over again, created a flat 8 sided floor.
Imported into 1.7.1
and could walk all round the floor without falling though it.

Cool, fixed.. Yeh right!

So back to Constructor, add 8 walls to my floor.

Import that back into 1.7.1
WTF. Falling though the floor again.

So GarageGames Forums here I come.

Spent today searching, Tried the export after loading fresh approach. Remade the floor as 8 individual pie slices. Even reinstalled Constructor. I tried to use the map2dif for TGEA but 1.7.1 cannot import what ever that tool makes (reports an error in some index.)

Nothing I could find on the forums has helped.

I've also knowticed the missing face that people have reported. In this case, it was one side of a normal box, realy realy strange.

So after all this, my question is, is there something I have missed in trying to create a simple octagonal room? Or are there still some serious errors with Constructor?

Thanks

@Simon:

I tried to duplicate this, and was unable. This is what I did:

I created an octagon with the tube option, made it 10 meters across, and 10 meters tall. I hollowed it with a wall thickness of 0.5 (any less is too thin really). I applied the "concrete" texture to it. Then, so I could get a character in, I deleted one of the walls, and exported with "Export as dif".

I placed this in game (tgea 1.7.1) , did a full relight, and then jumped inside and ran around without problems.

I'm wondering if the problem is something with zoning - ie, if it's completely enclosed then there are two zones, even though you don't have any portals. Can you try this?

Hello Jaimi,

I sware thats what I did first time and it didn't work, but that seam to work this time. Totaly FUBAR.

Now for some strangness. If I save my original stuff as a map instead of a csx, reload the map and then export. It works and I dont fall though the floors, but if I reload the csx version and export that, I fall though again.

Looks like I have found a workaround and can keep learning Constructor.

Thanks for taking a look Jaimi.
