Triggers

Hey all, in my little test area I have a object that has a trigger mounted to it. This trigger basically says to stop a projectiles movement when it enters. II have a condition within the trigger that allows the projectile to continue through the trigger toward the object unaffected. My problem is that when the projectile passes through, it doesn't have collision with the object.
If I dismount the trigger (so its just the object alone) from the object and then shoot the object, the projectile does in fact collide with the object. Is it that objects mounted with triggers cannot have collision detection? Seems kinda silly if that's the case, so I must be missing something. Whats the deal? Thank you in advance!
