Material Transfer?

What I would like to know (keeping in mind I am using TGEA 1.03) is if materials transfer the same way datablocks do?
I ask this because in cases where you want to allow people to be able to make their own maps and add content like you could with Tribes2, can you make new materials and have them transfer as well to the clients? Additionally, with this material transfer will it make clients download textures that are related to those materials on the server if the client does not have them. I know this happens with Datablocks, but so far my experiments are showing it doesn't work with materials.
Thanks in advance.

You'll have a really difficult time sending so many materials across the wire, since they can get so numerous.

Materials were once network aware, back in the MS1-3 days. For good reasons, this was removed. You'll have a really difficult time sending so many materials across the wire, since they can get so numerous.

Thank you for the answers gentlemen, especially yours Stefan, it was something I had no idea about since I had never dealt with the TSE Milestones.
