For Spanish Eyes Only

by Alejandro Mochi Mella · in Jobs · 09/09/2008 (2:31 am) · 16 replies

I'm building a spanish team, so sorry if you are interested and not spanish

Anywho... this is the AD:

If you're limiting your project to one ethnic group, you're being racist, I hope that clears it up. feel free to flame me outside the forums AIM: Lethedethius Yahoo: ros_contact

I don't think he was trying to exclude anyone. He simply prefers team members who speak Spanish. That's not a race, just a language. Anyone of any race can speak Spanish.

I don't think there was anything racist (intentional or not) about his post.

Just as Tony says, there is nothing racist here

I'm looking mainly (and NOT only) for spanish speakers for a practical reason: so we can meet in madrid to discuss the new updates of the project and share ideas face to face

I really dont see any racism there, but if there is, I would like to know where

LOL - Even if you look for people from Spain, spanish people are not an "ethnic group". What an ignorant statement.

The best of luck with your project Alejandro (cheers from Argentina).

He will not hire you if you are not spanish, it is probably because he doesn't speak english, or he is making a spanish only game and wants a strong language piece.

He may be racist, but I have no idea what he said, so I don't know what you guys are talking about.

Quote:He will not hire you if you are not spanish, it is probably because he doesn't speak english

Quote:He may be racist, but I have no idea what he said

Ok, let me translate the text so you all can understand it:

In the last years, I've been working in a Project, and it's about time to start making it real. The last time I set up a team, one sold several models and ideas to a company (will not give names). But that won't stop me from finishing my project.

The game is based in the middle ages. Original huh?

Well... no. Nothing like that. Not another elves, orcs and dragons RPG.

This is a realistic game. Based mainly on real crafting. No classes, no levels. Just skills.

Objective? Whatever you want! You can stay as lumberjack for years if you like it, or try to get a whole town under your control as count.

There are 2 ideas for this game: one making it in XNA, for the xBox 360 Arcade, and the other will be with TGEA. IMHO, the best thing to do is to start with the TGEA version, since it's easier and there is no need to pay Microsoft for putting it on the marketplace.

Right now I just started putting the team up, so I need 2d/3d Artists, TGEA programmers and musicians.
Unfortunately, I don't have too much experience with TGEA (just TGE SDK), but I can take care of the website, forum and FTP, so we can stay updated.

An important thing is that I've been working on this project for a long time, have a lot written work done, so this isn't a weekend-only job, or that I'm doing it because I'm bored. No. This is for real and it's about time it can see the daylight.

I would like some experienced volunteers, but I understand that if I cannot pay you right now, I cannot gather professionals (the end benefits will be shared, of course). You can use this opportunity to learn too!

If you are interested, do not hesitate to contact me at alex_mochi@yahoo.es (subject: "Gremlins Workshop")

I'll be waiting for you!!

PS: Preferred Spanish speaking, or residents in Madrid or nearby, but anyone will do

----------------------

i repeat: the ONLY reason i want spanish people (from madrid) is for meeting once in a while to share ideas and give the project a better shape

also, some beer drinking in group would be nice...

Alejandro,
Your post is crystal clear. I wish you the best in finding your team, and may your game go gold. :-)

Alejandro,

Thank you for translating the post, even though you didn't need to do that.. There are no rules that say a project has to be in English, or any other language for that matter.

Good luck with your game and your search for a team!

@Alejandro - Me gusta la premisa. Buena suerte =)

@Everyone else - Be very, very careful how you throw around the word "racist." This is a very tight community that, for the most part, leaves petty and narrow thoughts at the virtual door. A common passion unites everyone here: playing and developing games. Leave it at that, alright?
