Another Merging AFX to Torque Question
by Zuero · in Torque Game Engine · 08/29/2008 (4:53 pm) · 4 replies
I know I've asked this question before, and was told to use ArcaneFX for an RPG, but since most user submitted modifications such as the Level Up system, all the Melee Systems and all other ones that can be used for an RPG like Game are modifications meant for Torque itself, AFX most likely doesn't have the .cs files that are required for this. So I wanted to see if someone can please tell me how to merge them or how to go about doing so. Since I'm pretty sure ArcaneFX was made for Torque for Special Effects and such, It has to be very possible to merge ArcaneFX or at least the spells and effects into the Torque Game Engine. So to make things easier on me to add RPG Elements from the user submitted resources I am hoping someone can tell me what to do.
Thanks for any help in advance,
Daniel

I've been trying to work things out with ArcaneFX to use it as my base to make an RPG since AFX has RPG elements in it. But I see now that if I want to add all those resources I will have to use the Torque Game Engine itself (That's what I think).
So I wanted to know how to add AFX to my Torque Project so I can have all the special effects and spells in my project while being able to add all the user submitted resources.

No, that's what I'm asking. How to have AFX to work in my project using Torque Game Engine. I haven't put any of the resources yet into my Torque Project because I was trying to see if they would work with AFX but most of the .cs files that needed to be modified weren't in any of the AFX folders therefore most likely cannot work.I've been trying to work things out with ArcaneFX to use it as my base to make an RPG since AFX has RPG elements in it. You have to start with your AFX base.
And add each resource seperatley to a copy of your AFX Base.
And test it out as you go.
Each time you add a new resource, and it works with AFX. Back it up.
Then apply another resource, test, back up!

So if you begin with AFX you're also beginning with TGE...

AFX includes all the source of TGE, so it's basically ArcaneFX on top of TGE. It's not an add-in as packaged, it's an entire engine upgrade. That's why it can't be purchased without owning a TGE license. So if you begin with AFX you're also beginning with TGE...
