OGG Audio Formats...

I have just recently implemented the Yack Pack system in my game and have been trying to get some of my custom audio files working in the system.
For some unknown reason when I convert the audio files from their original format to OGG and place them in the enegine they never play ... the default files that come with the Yack pack do however.
Is there some special tool that I need to use to convert the files to OGG? I am thinking that maybe the tool I use is not doing the job properly.
Are there any special settings that you need to set in order to convert the files successfully?
I tried setting the bitrate to 96 kBs and 44 kHz that is the same as the default files that came with the Yack Pack ... but this doesn't seem to work any either.
Any help in this regard will greatly appreciated or even just pointing me to a better tool.

EDIT:
Thanks ... that worked perfectly. I never even thought about setting it to mono. Oh well you live and learn. :)

@Mike: Sweet thanks ... let me check that. From what I remember they are Stereo ... so I will try what you suggest. Thanks again. :)EDIT:

Mono for 3D sound profiles.
Stereo in a 3D profile won't play, Mono in a 2D profile is overly loud.
