Size bounds tool and texturing

by Patrick Shaw · in Constructor · 07/29/2008 (4:14 am) · 4 replies

Hi,
After using the "size bounds" tool on a brush, the "stretch to fit" texture commands don't stretch the texture to match the brush's face. Instead, these commands appear to stretch the texture to the brush's original size. Is there a way of resetting the size bounds? I have tried using the "reset brush" command and that seems to mess the texturing up even more.

The reset brush should rebuild the brush, and then allow you to reapply the "stretch to fit" again. Is that not happening? I'll test it here.

Patrick - I'm not seeing this - you don't have "unify" checked do you?

I tested this by creating a new map, a new brush, applying the "UVchart64" texture to it, switch to face mode, selected the faces, and stretched the texture to fit (using the gadget in the center of the "justify and fit" section). The texture stretched to fit like expected.

Then I switched to brush mode, selected the size bounds tool, and resized the brush. The texture kept it's alignment as I stretched it. Then, I manually edited the face, so it wasn't set correctly (by adjusting the scale and offsets), used the size bounds tool again to modify the brush, and then stretched the texture again, and it worked like expected.

If you have a sample map the shows the problem, you can send it to me and I can look into it further.

Jaimi,
Have you had a chance to look at the file I sent you yet?

Hi Patrick -

I was able to duplicate this, but I have not yet fixed it.
