PSK Tutorial: tilemap / tile layering

Phillip,

Thanks for the PSK! Looks like a lot of good analytical work went into the underpinnings.

I'm a newbie running TGB Pro 1.7.3. The PSK Tutorial confused me fairly quickly with the term "tilemap". I believe this term is out of date, and the current term is either "tilelayering" or "tile layering", but I'm having difficulty finding the info on these terms also.

I tried to hack something, but it turned out pretty ugly :-(

Thomas,

Welcome!

Firstly, what exactly are you struggling to come to terms with?

Tile Maps still exist in the world of TGB, but you are correct in that I have missused the term in the tutorial. Great observation, especially for a newbie ;)

Do you understand the basics of tile maps and layers?

Thomas, I would suggest going up to 1.7.4. I had a number of problems with .3. (There isn't major problems with .4 yet is there?)

Phillip,

Thanks for your quick response. I'm on track now and have completed the level 15 tile map. Also looked up "tile maps" and "layers" on Wikipedia.

As a newbie, I may not necessarily know what I am trying to come to terms with. Initially, I didn't know where to find the tilemap gizmo. Searches for tilemaps led to forum posts with the terms "tilelayering" and "tile layering". That got me started in the wrong direction.

Cool, as long as you're getting the hang of things.
