Blender issue

Hi all
I'm having a problem with my model in the torque game engine. I hope that this is the right place to ask.
I have included a picture of the issue here:

the grey area of the front of the image should not be there. It should all be the brown coloured texture that can be seen. At first I thought that it might be because the model was double sided but I have toggled this many a time and the result is always the same. Then I thought it might be an issue with the collision zone showing through the model itself but I have tried deleting the current collision zone and replacing it with a new one but the issue still persists. It looks to me like my textures are competing with each other but I'm not sure what is causing it.
Please help.
