Making windows

Hi all

another question has come to light.

I'm making some windows in a building. I was thinking because it doesn't need to be high definition ie as long as it looks like a window it will do, I was thinking that I would just make a texture with transparent regions then make the appropriate faces of the model transparent. my question is basically is this possible? it seems to me that I need to apply two materials to the face to achieve this from everything I have read but as said in previous threads the exporter can't handle multiple textures applied to a single face.

any help much appriciated.

Hmm interesting ... from reading some of the latest thread here it seems that the torque engine itself has a few holes in it when getting user creating items into it. I wonder if these are addressed in TGA.

very nice window ... definately looks simple enough. Do you have a tutorial for that? as I'm modelling a real life building I have to make the windows look something like the ones in the building otherwise the above window would be perfect. I don't need it to be anything great ... simply the ability for someone to look through the window basically and see whats on the other side.

Thanks once again for the great advice. I hope they pay you well for this :) otherwise I hope that my questions can help other future newbies.

As an after thought ... I didn't realize the engine had issues with .png files.
