Dream Games' Server is down

The Dream Games server didn't successfully reboot on a standard maintenance reboot and is down for the count. Technicians are working to bring it up and restore the data but it will take 6-12 hours *at least*.
This includes the domains mydreamrpg.com, dreamgamesinc.com, and torqueschool.com as well as email and IRC servers. In the meantime, you can send important messages to knuckleswe@hotmail.com.
I will reply here when I have more news. Here is the sad email!

We have investigated the issues you're encountering, and upon trying to bring the server up, there are files within the windows/system32/config/system that are reporting as missing or corrupt. We have attempted to reboot the machine multiple times, but the server will not fully boot. At this point, we would recommend submitting a re-provision request, and reloading any data you have to your server from backups. If you do not have any current data backups, we can provide an External USB Enclosure in order for you to backup any data that is on the drive.
If you would like to have your current hard drive removed and placed into a USB enclosure:
yadda yadda :(

My attempts to backup data failed because the executable running in memory would get infected.
A trojan or perhaps a virus was the culprit in my case. My AV software didn't catch it.
For me it meant a full HD format, repartition, and Install of Windows.
It also meant that my project that was 80% ready was also lost and without backup.
Fortunatly my HD wasn't damaged, as a check on the drive shows it's still 100%.
I sure hope your able to recover from that disaster better then I was Dave.

? spooky, similar thing happened to me last week. My windows installation became corrupted. My download of zipped files were all corrupted. Anything that was running in the foreground wouldn't work as intended. My attempts to backup data failed because the executable running in memory would get infected.

I even was able to resurrect 2GB worth of db and tables, though it's out of synch with the Plesk too. At least for now, the mydreamrpg.com site and torqueschool.com site are functional enough to use.

The windows system folder is what went down apparently, the hard drive was good and I've been able to restore most of the important things we had except for a complex php/db store.I even was able to resurrect 2GB worth of db and tables, though it's out of synch with the Plesk too. Ouch, single point of failure... no backups either? or just trying to restore most current data first?

Trying to avoid dumping a load of rubbish onto a freshly built server, so only restored critical and things I know were copacetic. At this point I've rebuilt everything except a php audit web store, with a license issue. So, it looks like I can breathe a little easier now.
