Constructor source? (Hear me out)

Why not give people the constructor source code if they have a TGE(A) license? See, constructor as it is can be quite limiting for some types of games - if I can change torque to suit my needs, why not its editor? Not only will it grow faster, but it'll also let people make more suitable editors for their games.
I'd love to see this happen, personally. If someone already bought the engine, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to have the source to constructor. Feel free to inform me as to why this hasn't been done already.

I second that. I personally would like to to work on a TGEA version of Constructor that can support material scripts.

We'd need to get more people on board though, and then bring it to GG's attention. I know internet petitions are generally useless, but in this case one might be useful to show them how many of their customers would love to have the source. :P

Heh, glad I have your support then. :]We'd need to get more people on board though, and then bring it to GG's attention. I know internet petitions are generally useless, but in this case one might be useful to show them how many of their customers would love to have the source. :P

Seriously though, this is a cool tool, and I'm grateful that GG has released it for free. Although...it would be nice to have access to the code.

Source code would be nice as well so I can change how the camera rotation and translation works. :)Seriously though, this is a cool tool, and I'm grateful that GG has released it for free. Although...it would be nice to have access to the code.

EDIT 2: Whoops, wrong thread. :[

If you want a free cam you can just go to the preferences and make sure the appropriate checkbox is... well, checked, if that's what you wanted.EDIT 2: Whoops, wrong thread. :[

my 2 cents

Source code would be good, but don't bank on it. people have requested that since the day it came out. I'm an artist (and a Maya user), and would LOVE to have my co-workers (programmers) be able to get under the hood and build us an importer/exporter to/from constructor. Not only that, but Constructor's interface and ease of use is MUCH more friendly the actual torque interface.... so I second an implementation into Torque ... but again, it will likely never happen... sad to have such a great tool be blocked by lack of user input ........ Heck, GG basically has its customers as beta testers, it wouldn't be that much different to release the source of Constructor. At the very least, people could develop tools that Jaimi could possibly implement (if he wanted to volunteer, that is) so that there are 30 versions floating around out there.my 2 cents

Not to bash Garagegames or anything, but they've had a history of always switching focus on projects so rapidly they never get finished to what they've stated they would. Good examples are TGEA and OpenGL support. Since they're so busy with other projects all the time it would be nice if the community could have code access to Constructor so that they can at least have a fair chance to do something about any bugs or drawbacks. Sure, after all these years of TGEA being out nobody has done a complete OpenGL graphics interface driver if you will for the engine which makes it a bad example to point out, but that's more in tune with somebody needing months of straight spare time to implement something as complex as that. Especially since I have a feeling the interface wrapper/API for graphics in TGEA is DirectX 9 bias because that's the only graphics subsystem currently supported in TGEA. OK enough of my ranting. :P
