"We are looking to innovate the fighting game genre by putting the action of a first person shooter into an arena style environment. Our gameplay will focus on how each player moves about in the 3D environments and how the variety of characters will provide a multitude of playing styles and tactics. Some of our characters will be capable of wall running and super jumps allowing them to take advantage of the vertical space in order to launch attacks or gain access to hidden items that others characters cannot. Other characters will have the ability to deform the environment in various ways, such as pushing over pillars, or smashing through walls to open up hidden areas or destroy environment structures. We feel our concept will provide a new, deep and rewarding multiplayer gaming experience. As the current videogame market is saturated with Shooters and online RPGs, we feel our project provides much needed variety."

We're actually not planning a public release as we're trying to get funding to develop the game into a full retail project.

Firstly I would either re-do or get rid of that opening animated 'S' sequence.. it made me cringe a little and reminded me of a school project or something.. it then opens to a pretty cool logo which I think you should just focus on straight away. The S in the animation and the S in the logo don't look the same or line up which it appears as though its what your trying to do.. It got me worried about the quality of the work that would follow it which is never a good thing - remember, first impressions!
I'd actually boost the soundtrack volume, i think it would help with the feeling a little.
footage and fighting is nice, and it really showcases the games features - except for one major thing! What does it look like when im playing as one of the characters?? I want to know how the game feels if im in the arena fighting, I really think you should cut to some footage taken from the players point of view - is it first person? third person? etc.. im not sure and chances are, if your wanting investors they are going to want to know the same thing too.
In my opinion the video should end after the 'Brutal - thats what it is.' text, the credits are basically as long as the in game footage which to me seems rather crazy, the vid should be short and sharp and to the point - I don't need 2.30 of credits. In my opinion you only need the name of the development studio in there 'Surrogate Interactive', and please please get rid of the project dedications/special thanks etc, Im sure you have a personal connection with these people and feel greatful for their help, but it really cuts the professionalism out of the otherwise slick video.
I think you are really sending mixed messages with the video, you are seeking funding and investors but there are still aspects that makes me think mod, or school project. If you want the dedications I would make one copy with this in there for whoever needs a rub of having their name in the video, and make one without that is slick, professional and caters solely towards showing the quality of the game, and securing $.
Hopefully I haven't come across to harshly, I only spent my time writing this up for you as I think it is a definitely a project that can go somewhere, but you just need to polish everything up a little to really get you there.
Good luck!

Wow. I had all of the crits that Andrew had but not the time to post them. Very good eye, Andrew. Especially cutting the credits and showing the actual game perspective (I thought it was completely third-person and didn't think it could be first until reading Andrew's post...because I didn't know if you were showing it from the gameplay perspective or a spectator cam).

I've been getting a lot fo similar feedback actually in the other forums, so I'm going to re-work the trailer and really try to make it quicker and to the point. Thanks for taking the time to write such a long crit Andrew, you've got some good advice in there.
I'll let you know once the new version is ready with all of the changes and suggestions that everyone has been making!
Thanks again!
