Research paper

Good morning,

My apologies for asking this in the forum but I need to get some information for a research paper I am doing for my Game Engines & Production Class (GD410) at ITT Technical College. I am wrapping up the class and have chosen the Torque Game Engine (the engine) to write about with my final paper, the things I need to know is this:

How does the engine work with, or handle these generalized subsystems:

- Bi-directional Event Handler (handle input from the user, either via keyboard and mouse or other)
- Graphics Engine (what does it use to handle graphics?)
- Logic Engine (the brains)
- Data Engine (what types of data does it support?)
- Dynamics Engine (how does it handle physics? Collision detection and Collision Response?)
- Sound Engine (what does it use to handle the sound?)
- Hardware Abstraction Layer (how does it communicate to the hardware?)
- User Interface (anything special for the UI?)

I understand that this is an group of questions, but I would appreciate any assistance that anyone might be able to give.

Thank you for your time!
Brandon

Did you learn anything in school? Those points, so innocently lain out, basically ask: "can you write me a report on the Torque Game Engine?"

If anyone does come to the rescue, this could turn into a highly educational thread. I'll watch to see if anyone takes the bait...

This thread being about 1.5 months old, I'm sure he probably got the answers he needed. I'd be interested in seeing how the paper turned out. A+ I hope? =)

I did finish the paper, and I did get an A. As for the comment:

"can you write me a report on the Torque Game Engine?"

I certainly hope that people wouldn't think they could get something like that here, given the fact that I asked for information nearly 2 months ago. I had heard that the community for Torque was alive, vibrant, and helpful.

Given the speedy nature of any reply, and the 'helpful' nature of the first reply I can see that my paper was spot on. I did not request anyone to write a paper for me, I asked for more technical information then I could locate.

It may be of interest for you to know that half of my paper was regarding the community attached to the game engine.

@Brandon - Awesome! Congrats on getting the A. I for one am interested in reading the paper, if you still have it. It might be helpful from a documentation stand point.

I wish I came across this post earlier, because I thought the questions were fair and could be answered without "writing it for you." Granted, a lot of that information is available once you download the SDK or in the forums, but the way you posed the questions could be answered in a new way.

I also wish i'd seen this earlier.
Brandon, i'm curious why you focused on Game Engine Community for half the paper. Was that part of the assignment, or something you felt was important ? imo, the community around a game engine is hugely important, and despite your original post being missed for so long, the GG community in particular is indeed usually pretty vibrant, and one of the technology's significant strong points.

Also, any chance of posting or linking to the paper ?
