Christian Game Developers Conference 2008

by Tim Emmerich · in General Discussion · 04/08/2008 (3:14 am) · 14 replies

The Seventh Annual Christian Game Developers Conference is slated for July 24-26 in Portland, Oregon. CGDC is open to any developer (or strongly interested in becoming one) involved in any area of game development.

The mission of the Christian Game Developers Conference is three-fold:

o First, to bring Christians involved in game development together in fellowship.
o Second, to provide a chance to discuss topics relevant to game development.
o Third, to pray for God to bless all aspects of the game development industry.

The Christian Game Developers Conference encompasses board, card, paper, video and computer game development.

@Tim - Just to warn you guys, OGDC (now called ION) was sued by CMP (the people who run GDC and Austin GDC) because their acronym/name was too similar to GDC. I'm not sure if they'd touch CGDC because of the religious aspect, but they have been poking around IMGDC as well about our name, so it's something you may want to be aware of.

Jonathon -

Thanks for letting me know. I'm not sure we can do anything about it now.

This is our 7th year.

It is still not too late, especially any of you in Eugene, conference is next week. Register at http://cgdc.org

Haha I live in Eugene Tim. Oh yes, I e-mailed you earlier and you never responded. I tested your game a few years back (and did a lousy job :p) I may show up to this.

Thanks David! Still working on the schedule & printed program.

Ovoon - please feel invited to attend!
Please keep us posted on your Kingdom Come Games!!
Ack - my apologies if I missed your Email. I have GraceWorks & CGDC domain (and others) to try to keep up with. Please resend to Tim@cgdc.org. I'd be dead without mailwasher.net to help clean all the spam I get, but sometimes good messages don't get through.

Hey all - trying to be better at following up.

CGDC08 was a success! A lot of new faces as established teams were hard at work on titles.

Guitar Praise was announced! And the Visions Team have released a racing game -> http://VisionsGame.com

We are trying to nail down dates quickly for next year with the top contender being June 18-20 (and a back up date of Aug 6-8).

Tim, update your link to http://www.VisionsGame.com or update your SOA to include no domain header as a valid option.

Thanks Steven. I didn't realize they didn't have the non-www version not working. So, best link is http://WWW.VisionsGame.com - and I will let them know. I like my domains to work with or without the old triple "Dub".

For info on Guitar Praise, look to http://DigitalPraise.com

If you are interested to see what titles have shipped, check out http://ChristianGamesNOW.com

@Tim: This is the first I've heard of a Christian GDC, but good on you guys for addressing this important aspect of the industry. I can't go to any, (I live in New Zealand, haha!), but all the best with them!
