I am looking to build a very typical FPS where the enemy players have voices and say things, which get louder as the player gets closer.

How long would it take to create a simple FPS with the Torque engine and the content packs below, and how much might you charge?

Let's suppose I get the following content packs:
http://garagegames.com/products/104/ (environment)

http://garagegames.com/products/271/ (yack pack to help with the speaking)

http://garagegames.com/products/172/ (for help with animation)

http://garagegames.com/products/176/ (weapons pack)

http://garagegames.com/products/75/ (soldier pack) for FPS player

http://garagegames.com/products/277/ (pam pack) for enemies
http://garagegames.com/products/95/ (ava pack)
http://garagegames.com/products/61/ (adam pack)

How long would it take to create a simple FPS with the Torque engine and these packs, and how much might you charge?

Thanks!

Well, it would not take very long to actually create a basic FPS using torque at all however, I would recommend saving some of your cash...here is why:

http://garagegames.com/products/271/ (yack pack to help with the speaking) = OVERKILL most of my AI bad guys speak using their simple finite state machine info. If you were thinking of an RPG or something a bit more complex you would need something like yak pack.

http://garagegames.com/products/172/ (for help with animation) = All the animations in the pack are WITHOUT weapons. Not gonna help much for a FPS.

Nothing wrong with the other packs I guess. There needs to be MUCH more information presented before anyone can actually give you a reasonable quote. Quite honestly, the only thing that would be complex would be the AI stuff. But then again I don't really know exactly what play depth your looking for.... That said a simple design doc would probably be recommended first.

Combat Starter Kit over at Dream Games? $100.

Last time I checked it out (beta release) it was a basic FPS out of the box. Probably be a starting point if you're looking for cheap and basic.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm really just loooking for simple AI--the enemies try to kill the main player, and as time goes on, they multiply.

Thanks! Willing to pay someone to help out!
