TGB 1.7.2 Issue.

I posted this in the private forum and got zero response last week, so.....

I can't really nail down a specific bug per say, so I thought I'd throw this one out here. I'm using the indie license of TGB 1.7.2 on a Windows XP machine (Core 2 w/ 2 Gb RAM, plenty o' HD space).

I'm periodically getting a lot of flickering on the editor and extremely slow performance when adding/editing anything. It seems to run fine, then will suddenly hang up, but not crash.

I've updated my video card drivers and anything else I could find. TGE runs just fine as does all my other software. (Lightwave 3d, XNA, etc)

Any ideas would be appreciated.

To any of the hardware experts, could this be heat related?

Patrick

I'd go bump the message in the private forum, you'll get a better reply there. I've never heard of this issue before so I think it's your rig. Could be the monitor, could be your OpenGL driver, or an issue with your graphics card. Heat can be an issue...you can damage your hardware without proper cooling. Try running TGB in DirectX mode and see if that helps any.

Thanks Joe, the TGB private forums have been pretty slow lately...

It's a laptop and I've had heat issues before (burned up a video card) and I noticed that it ran alright when I first booted it up last night, but didn't get a chance to stress it.

I'm going to try it out in DX mode, that may be it.

Thanks again,
Patrick

Its maybe stupid to "bring posts from the dead" but i simply must reply on this.

I had similar issue when i was working my scripting in CodeWeaver. That program scans all my project code-files every second. but he is doing it SO HARD, that it lags my game every second, no matter the mashines harware configuration.

So, this may be it...

Now, i use Ultra Edit. Not a 100% perfect choise for coding (maybe 90%, if you can measure it like that), but it absolutely perfect for everything else! :)

My issue was entirely heat related, replaced the video card for the second time and it works just fine.

@Milan,
Glad you figured it out, thanks for sharing.
