McAfee Site Advisor Doesn't Like This Site.

by Jason Gossiaux · in General Discussion · 02/14/2008 (11:10 am) · 5 replies

When browsing at work I noticed our McAfee site Advisor went nuts complaining about this site. They claim -

When we tested this site we found links to largeanimal.com, which we found to be a distributor of downloads some people consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs.

I just wanted to let you know. This can be annoying and potentially bad publicity at the same time. Not to mention browsing here during my lunch break might raise some flags at work as a result of it :(

GG is of course not responsible for offsite content / links. How could they be?

And they don't have any malicous code just a login cookie. It's as clean as a website
can get.

Largeanimal probably trips some spam/porn filter.

While I agree with you, it doesn't change the nature of the McAfee software. I just wanted to make them aware of it in case they wanted to fix it. All it might take is an email to McAfee explaining the situation...

Largeanimal.com. Is that the home page for Large Animal company the makers of RocketBowl? If so GG might be very interested in getting this cleared up.

Most likely one of the games on their portal included spyware at some point and now their url is blacklisted in McAfee, regardless of whether they still have the software included in their portal or not.
