3d Max texture help

I've created a space helmet/mask that has glass for the face mask. I want to be able to see through the glass.
Before I unwrap it in Max, do I put everything in the UV map including the glass or do I need to separate them.
If I keep them together how do I texture it and get it to show up in max. I thought about the glass tutorial, but that would
make the whole suit see through wouldn't it.
Also in Photoshop CS3 how would I create pockets as a texture?
These are two things I really need to know for a job I applied for.
Thank you

As far as I know you have to seperate the glass from the UV because of the reflection/refraction or raytrace parameters.
When making the glass seperated from the UV you can stil select the polygons of your object.
