Is there a way i can buy 3ds max 5?

I've used 3ds max since 9th grade in High School till now so thats about 1999-2008 .... I've tried so many other appz but nothing feels as comfortable as 3ds max. It's like I can make anything with it... Is there some way to buy an old version of that app?

Kevin,
Probably not legally. For as long as I can remember, (I have been using 3D Studio Max since version 2.5) the licence for MAX has been non-transferable. In other words, yes there are probably older versions of MAX floating around....and I even have version 5 but I can't sell it to anyone legally because the tiny little text in that little end-user agreement says I can't. Those annoying end-user agreements....read them....to an indie developer they are VERY VERY important.

The license was transferrable on some earlier versions of Max - Both parties had to fill in forms and send them off. I do not recall the exact version of Max where they changed the license, but I got my copy of 2.5 that way.

You can transfer your lisence in certain circumstances, but it should be noted that you are transfering complete ownership from one to another, so theres no way someone will just give you a sweet deal on it unless they have absolutely no plans to continue on with it.

It should also be noted that upgrading to newer releases of said software is less expensive if you are using the latest releases. I am not even honestly certain if you could upgrade Max 5 without paying the full price for a completely new copy (it is after all almost 6 years old now).
