Oh.. is that why my hotspots are off? :) Not fun having to click under a button to click it. Guess I'll turn off aero and try again.

I had to turn off User Account Control and Aero to really get anything done on Vista...but otherwise it works ok. It still wastes memory though. Microsoft can't seem to get their head around the idea that the OS is supposed to run in the background.

...might be stating the obvious, but hey, no-one mentioned it. :)
Similar issues if I try to alt-tab out of a fullscreen'd Torque game with visual themes enabled, the game crashes out. Same fix works.

For the hotspot issue, you can fix it by right clicking the constructor shortcut, compatibility tab and check Disable Visual Themes. That'll toggle Aero off when you run Constructor, and back on when you close it....might be stating the obvious, but hey, no-one mentioned it. :)

The trick about setting "Disable visual themes" in compatibility tab of the Constructor shortcut does not work for me. I'm using Vista Ultimate with Constructor patched to 1.0.4 with an ATI X1650 Radeon Card and latest updated drivers. In addition to the hotspots being off the title bars of all the top most forms do not show and there is a large black area across the bottom. Like the window contents have moved up about a quarter of an inch.
I seen another post that blames Aero for these problems when in fact Constructor should have been created to work with Aero, IMHO. :-)
Any other tricks to try? I really don't want to turn Aero off.

Hmm... it works fine for me (Vista 64 bit on AMD, GeForce 8500 GT). Not a slightest trace of problem (well- it tends to eat up memory- Constructor I mean). I tend to think it's more about video card then about Vista itself

I was able to duplicate this issue on a notebook with an ATI x1300. A driver update from Windows Update on 1/23 solved the issue for me, though.

I have all of the Vista updates as of 2/15/2008. There has not been an update since then.
I was able to get my Constructor shortcut to temporarily disable Aero while it is running. I did this by checking the "Disable desktop composition" checkbox under Compatibility tab.
I haven't found anymore problems yet as I have just started in chapter 17 of GPAI1 2Ed. I am also doing the same exercise on Quark to compare the two and see which one I like best.

It runs for me, but it runs a lot slower than on XP, even on a much faster system. I do believe that most of that is related to poor OpenGL support with NVidia's Vista drivers, though.
