While this forum is worth a little extra effort, it is getting tiresome after two weeks pretty steady (for me). If the issue is caused by a vendor, as stated, then you guys are getting screwed over, paying for services you're not getting. Your reputation is worth more than one or two emails about this.

This is still a problem. While the IP address workaround helps, it still takes extra effort (for one, it requires a new login). While this forum is worth a little extra effort, it is getting tiresome after two weeks pretty steady (for me). Yup, I agree. Its a problem of critical mass I guess, as the problem affects only a few members.

Maybe you have a problem with the DNS Server you are using.

Tor may not be a good solution. At some point your traffic has to pass through a tor end point, there's nothing stopping anyone setting up a tor end point which leaves all your traffic that passes through tor open to sniffing as it leaves the tor network.
It's not as big a problem if you're using end to end encryption such as SSL. Although there's still probably the possibility of man in the middle attacks. But anything not encrypted can easily be read by the "tor out" owner.
The contents of your forum posts may not be a concern, but there may be other traffic for example if you logged in to the forums whilst using tor, or perhaps session info that you might not want others to be able to get access to.
As to the original problem, there have been a few people in the #GarageGames channel on IRC over the last few weeks that have been/still are having trouble accessing the forums.
One option worth trying, since the IP address is reported to work, is to try using an alternative DNS provider. Try switching to OpenDNS on one of your PC's and see if that resolves the problem.

Quote:Firefox users can get around this issue using the Tor Button plugin, give it a try. I'm not sure how Tor works but hopefully this sheds some light on what is causing the errors.

The problem is more then just the website not being accessible. There is no documentation on the engine that comes with the engine (other then reading the source code). From what I can find, the only place to get documentation is the forums and the TDN site. Since my access to the documentation is now intermittent my development on my game has become intermittent. It has become so bad that I haven't attempted to access the website for 1 1/2 weeks, and I've been considering trying a different engine where the documentation is available on demand.

@Stephen: I tried a couple different DNS server when this issue started for me with the same results. The problem is more then just the website not being accessible. Not really. As a general thing, there are multitude of downloadable tutorials and the TGE Main Documentation can be downloaded here.
The problem is beyond documentation, as it is to access the site and its features, beeing -indeed-, the forums and the TDN the more traumatic absences.

Doing searches and getting documentation links to give to other people is now like pulling teeth from a dragon, this is one of the most frustrating things I've gone through, at a really bad time too.

This is definitely not a problem with the web site/infrastructure itself--as you guys well know we use the web pages hourly and I've seen this problem all of once, back during late December last year.
I've followed up with our Ops Chief again, and he is pinging those interfacing with Akamai to see if we can nail down the issue, but I don't have any status update as yet.
I'm not asking for it to be posted here quite yet, but if you get the error, please make sure to make a list of time/date/location and the reference number you get, so if Akamai comes looking for the data we can get it from you quickly.

About the notes however, could be a mess, as Im getting the error almost constantly; in fact I changed the bookmark buton on FF to the IP address, and that way, all the navegation sublinks are through the ip; anyway, even then, I get some errors when try to follow some user created link. I'll try to take note of those, as the other way would be pure torture.
Would be enough? If you think that ALL of them would be needed, let me now...

The idea is that if it is a particular server for Akamai that is a problem, it would be good to give them data that could help them figure out which one.

Just one or two a day really is fine...you don't need to save every single one!The idea is that if it is a particular server for Akamai that is a problem, it would be good to give them data that could help them figure out which one.

I still get the errors on a regular basis. If I toggle my Firefox Tor button I can get in just fine.

Today, I had no problem so far using the URL, and that for several days consecutively I was not able to do that. I have noticed that when I get in successfuly on the URL after having used the direct IP, I have to re-login, and vice versa.
Anyway, I wish you guys luck at resolving it.

The error message I get is not what you normally get when you have a DNS failure. It is a response from the main server.Today, I had no problem so far using the URL, and that for several days consecutively I was not able to do that.
